Youth Ministries
When Jesus saw this, he was
indignant. He said unto them, "Let the little children come to me,
and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I
tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little
child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put
his hands on them and blessed them.
Mark 10: 14-16
Racing is my thing,
But Jesus is my KING!
Show me a Youth today that has ridden to Burger King for Junk Food, or to Church for Jesus Food, and I'll show you a young person that loves automobiles and once exposed to auto racing will fall in love to auto racing.
Ask any young person that has grown up in the Southeastern United States, who Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Sr. or Jr., Bill Elliott, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Jarrett, Mark Martin, Bobby Labonte, David Coulthard, Michael Schumacher, Joe Gibbs or even Roger Penske is and they can tell you. We use this common ground to bring them to the Lord. (By the way 8 of the 12 names are professing Christians.)
2002
1. We are creating a new program. Adopt a crew member:
At several select races this year we are going to bring young men of single parent homes, for a fun weekend:
Of bonding with men.
Learning about racing and race cars.
Exposure to Christian values as found in Christian men having fun.
To assist in the Sunday Services.
Something to look forward to.
Something to recount at school and home.
2. We are developing a program called: Right of Passage
For young men 13 to 25, we will help families, friends, churches, clubs set a celebration for a young man called "right of passage" that will be a day in his life that he can look forward and back on that will mark the day that his elders proclaimed that he needed to put away the things of a child and take up the values of a man.
This was done in the old testament times and by the American Indians as well as many other parts of the world. But sadly it is not being done much in America, with tragic results in the development of boys to men. Boys are now looking for conquest in sports, jobs, sex, drugs, or gangs to make them "feel" like a man. We will explain more if you click on the link above called Right of Passage.
3. We are going to continue our involvement with the "Candlelighters"
For six years we have done something with the Candlelighters. For the past three years we have taken them to the race track for 2 1/2 days.
For what we do for them, a typical schedule of the weekend, and photos of the last three years click on the link "Candlelighters" above.
4. We will start offering a VBS (Vacation Bible School) type activities at the race track starting early spring 2002. "Kids Paddock"
Starting Spring or when the Trailer/Chapel is finished with insulation, A/C, and electrical wiring, we are ready to provide morning and afternoon functions for the kids at the track, from 7 to 17. We have good clean youth videos, Christian videos, music, and crafts to keep them busy.
We are chasing God with horsepower
